Welcome to the website of Salvatore Tringali

As from November 2014, I will be a Texas A&M postdoctoral research associate in Doha and work in the research group of enumerative and algebraic combinatorics with Catherine Yan and Rudolph Lorentz. The objectives of this activity include the study of combinatorial properties of parking functions, polyominoes and certain families of polynomials such as Gonçarov polynomials.

In parallel, I've been (discontinuously) working for a while to the development of a new approach to the factorization theory of monoids (abelian or not), which is definitely based on the theory of normed monoids. This is partly motivated by the study of certain combinatorial invariants such as the Davenport constant.

I hold a PhD in (pure) mathematics, which I obtained from the Université de Lyon, under the advisorship of François Hennecart and Alain Plagne. I defended my thesis in November 2013, at the Université de St-Étienne. From January to July 2014, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre de mathématiques Laurent Schwartz (École polytechnique), in the research group of additive combinatorics directed by Alain Plagne.

These experiences come after an Intra-European Fellowship from the Marie Curie Actions program which I was awarded in December 2010. The grant financed an individual project of 24 months, carried out at the Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions (Université "Pierre et Marie Curie" Paris 6) under the supervision of Yvon Maday and essentially aimed at a career shift (before moving to France, I got a first PhD in computational electromagnetics and worked for several years in Italy in the same field).
